Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Over the summer term, more than 80 children read at home 5 times a week. Well done to everyone: this is very impressive!
This week, Years 5 and 6 performed Hansel and Gretel across three afternoons and evenings. The children have worked extremely hard over the half term, practising and perfecting their performance. We are so proud of their hard work, dedication and talent! Well done, children!
Muskham Primary School hosted its first ever Rocksteady Music concert today and it was a resounding success. All the bands have been working really hard with Oliver during their Rocksteady lessons and today they showcased their amazing talents to a packed audience. All the children blew us away with their musical knowledge and ability, not to mention their confidence when performing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed each performance - especially the children. Congratulations to all involved with special thanks to Oliver and our parents, carers and family members for your fantastic support.
On Thursday afternoon, Class 6 spent some of their enterprise profit on a bowling trip at Newark Superbowl. We caught a service bus into town before enjoying some football and a play at the park near Newark Castle. We then went bowling and even enjoyed a slushie - we certainly have some excellent bowlers in Class 6! After this, we visited Sconce Park before catching a service bus back to school. An excellent afternoon was had by all!
Class 2 spent a super day at The Deep today. The children had fun spotting all the animals in the huge ocean tank! They were particularly enamoured by the jellyfish, sharks and penguins.
The children had a wonderful day at Woodside Wildlife Park. They saw a huge variety of animals and impressed their zookeeper for the day, sharing all of the interesting animal facts they have learnt this half term. Some of the children were even brave enough to stroke a snake.
Today, we welcomed a very interesting visitor to Muskham Primary School, Thomas Taylor. He has written and published four children's books, one of which is a Year 6 'Recommended Read'. In his assembly, he discussed inspirations for his novels, based in a fictitious seaside location where magical and mysterious events occur. Following this, each class participated in a workshop, turning illustrations into mythical creatures and considering ideas for their own stories.
On Wednesday 5th July, Year 4 and 5 travelled to Tuxford Academy to watch the dress rehearsal of Matilda. Students at the academy put on an impressive performance; we definitely enjoyed the show.
On Wednesday 5th July, Key Stage 2 children split into seven mixed-year-group teams. They competed in both field and track events, which demonstrated a variety of sporting skills. We are very proud of all the children for their sporting efforts and team work. Well done to the Orange Team for winning the trophy this year! Thank you to all the parents who came to cheer the children on and to MEG for providing refreshments.
