Meet the Governors

Anne Allsop, Chair of Governors


Anne Allsop is a retired Nottinghamshire school Inspector who has also worked for the Department of Education. the National College and Nottingham university on School Management and Education development programmes. Following retirement she worked for a national Special Needs Charity supporting primary and secondary school children who had learning difficulties.  Her roles in school, apart from Chair, are support for Headteacher Appraisal, pupils with special needs and staff wellbeing.

Mr Buck is a retired Headteacher with extensive experience - particularly of staff development, health and safety, safeguarding and financial management. Currently assisting the school through joint responsibility for Appraisal; the work of the Finance Committee; subject support for Mathematics and general monitoring through work sampling. Part of the Governors' Health and Safety Task Force during the Covid crisis.

Mrs Crossland is Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Officer. She has a Teaching degree from Leeds University with a specialism in English. In 2014, Mrs Crossland was appointed as Deputy Head of Muskham Primary and then in April 2017 she was appointed as Headteacher. Before being appointed at Muskham Primary, she taught for 21 years across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 at a number of schools in Nottinghamshire. She worked for 18 years as a mathematics leader and is currently working as a Minster Leader of Education, sharing her expertise in mathematics and her knowledge of teaching and learning with the wider professional community. Mrs Crossland firmly believes that "all children deserve the very best education and all children can succeed."

Mrs Tansley is the staff governor. She is the  Assistant Head, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, Maths Lead, RE lead, PSHE Lead, DPO and also the staff representative on the Muskham Events Group. She has a BSC(Hon) in Applied Chemistry and worked as a Research Chemist for 10 years before re-training to become a teacher.

Molly Chesney is managing director of a marketing consultancy. Having previously worked for a business regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, Molly has experience with data protection regulations, and is the link governor for GDPR. She has also been a parent of a pupil at the since the school since September 2014. Molly has worked with the head on a number of initiatives including securing some positive local media coverage of the opening of sensory garden.

Nicola Lawson is a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader working within the Education Improvement Service of Nottinghamshire County Council. Nicola develops and delivers professional development courses for teachers and schools, and provides one-to-one support for pupils who experience difficulties with early reading and writing. Nicola has a Masters Degree in Reading Recovery and Literacy Leadership. Nicola has been a co-opted governor for over a year and alongside other governors is responsible for monitoring assessment data and is the link governor for reading and writing.

Simon Keane is a General Manager for Greene King at the Lord Ted in Newark, that has an annual turnover of £1.5m per annum. He is responsible for the development of 30 staff at site and has seen 5 members of his team develop into management positions at other sites over the last couple of years. In addition 8 members of his team have completed the apprenticeship programme. He is also an ITM for the brand and is responsible for the training of all new General Managers. He is also on a future leaders programme as part of his development into a BDM position within the company.

He has an excellent understanding of financial data, sales planning, compliance and leading a team.

Sandra White has lived in North Muskham since 1984 and has been a Midday Supervisor since 2012. Her daughter attended the school before attending the Tuxford Academy. Mrs white also works part-time as a window cleaner. In addition to that she plays  an active part in the Muskham Community, helping out at many of the events that are held, including festivals, Mother and Toddler groups and as a Guides Leader.

Christopher Wright was appointed as a Parent Governor in July 2022.  Both of his children attend Muskham School.  He runs a successful local chimney sweeping business, serving Newark and the surrounding area for the last 10 years.   Prior to this, he worked in the finance sector as a compliance and risk manager running a department of 20+ people.

 

Chris is delighted to have been appointed as a Governor and looks forward to supporting the school in its future developments.  He sees this as a fantastic opportunity to give back to the school and its community.

Lourdes Fernandopulle is a parent governor appointed in September 2024. Lourdes holds a BEng (Hons) in Electrical, Electronics and Information Engineering from City University, London. Lourdes has been working in the Rail Sector for the past 11+ years in Engineering, Software & Data departments. Lourdes has a child attending Muskham Primary School and lives in Newark.
