Parents and Grandparents were treated to an array of talented rock bands on Friday afternoon. One Rick Astley hit was given a completely new lease of life. The talent showcased by all our children was staggering!
On Thursday 23rd of November, Year 5 enjoyed ‘Mexico Day’. They researched and presented information about Mexico as part of their Geography work on North and South America. In the afternoon, they prepared a traditional Mexican dish and designed a ‘Day of the Dead’ mask.
KS2 enjoyed learning CPR in their first aid training course. Thanks to Leon's Legacy, they were able to practise the life-saving technique and learn how to use a defibrillator.
Class 4 had a wonderful visit to Bassetlaw Museum for a Romans Day. We started the day with an archaeological dig to find some Roman artefacts, looked at (and dressed up in) Roman military wear, made traditional Roman pots using clay, and finished our day with a Roman wedding! What a brilliant day!
On Wednesday 18th October, Year Two concluded their 'Castles' learning by having an experience day in school. All the children (and staff) got dressed up depending on what they would have liked to do in the castle - we had a range of royal family members, knights and even a cook. We created our own castles, considered suitable locations and designs for a castle, and even had a mini 'medieval feast'. It was a great day. Thank you to all the parents and carers for their support with the fantastic costumes and props.
Class 6 visited The National Holocaust Centre in Laxton following their work in Religious Education. Whilst at the centre, we undertook a workshop, where we learnt about the events of the Holocaust and observed some artefacts. Following this, we went on a tour of the centre to understand what it was like to live in Berlin during World War 2. Before departing, we visited the memorial gardens where the children had the opportunity to place a stone on the memorial in memory of the children whose lives were taken during the Holocaust.
Year 5 completed the GREAT project this week, where they have been learning about building positive relationships.
As part of our Harvest Festival celebrations, we collected donations for Newark Food Bank. Thank you all for your generosity!
We enjoyed our wonderful Harvest Festival today at St. Wilfrid’s Church. Each class performed a poem or song as part of the celebration.
Today, KS2 had a visit from Severn Trent Water. In our assembly, we learnt all about the work Severn Trent Water do - how they take all our sewage and make it drinkable again! We saw the cycle this takes and also learnt about the things we should and shouldn't put down the sink or toilet. Class 4 then had a workshop relating to their Science work on the water cycle. We learnt about water shortages and also investigated how much water a family uses and wastes every day.
