Head Teacher's Blog

It's been another busy week at school with many of the children looking really tired by Friday afternoon - always a sign of learning!

Mrs Tansley was ill this week which meant that the Foundation children had to get used to Mrs Hodges in her place.  Mrs Crossland and I "popped in" a few times each day and were impressed to see all of the children responding brilliantly and continuing with their learning as well as they always do.  Mrs Tansley is intending to be back in school on Monday.  Mrs Hodges will be staying for a few days too so that the staff have an opportunity to get "caught up" after a really busy term.

All of the teachers have now completed Wednesday afternoon training by the Abacus Maths team.  This is the programme that the school now bases Mathematics teaching upon, as well as the online homework system that your child will be using. I have been enjoying reading Roald Dahl's "Fantastic Mr Fox" with Classes 1 to 6 so that the teachers could get an extra hour of this training in at the end of the school day.

The Choir gave an impressive performance at the "Cool Choirs" concert at Mansfield Museum on Wednesday; Ruby and Luke wrote about this in week's newsletter, which I hope you enjoyed reading.

The stage has now been erected ready for the Under 7s Christmas Show, which I am looking forward to seeing in its entirety.  Many thanks to Mr Ford who has had to put in a lot of work to make sure that the stage is safe for the children to use.

Next week, on Monday only, Mrs Frost will not be in school;  Mrs Carroll will be working with Class 5 for the day. On Thursday, Mrs Clarke will be out on a training day; Ms Latham will be teaching Class 3 in her place.

I look forward to seeing you for "Parent Book Look" at 3.15 on Thursday as well as at the Christmas Fair after school on Friday.  The funds raised at the Christmas Fair will be spent on refreshing the playground equipment and on new "home reading books" for Classes 2 and 3.  If you can help out in any way, please let Rachel know through the MEG page in the "School Community" Tab.
