Head Teacher's Blog

It seems that this week has flown by; unbelievably we have only one week left now until half term break. On Monday Miss Pollard, Mrs Checkley and I met with Karen, our new temporary head chef. After many years as the lead in the school kitchen, Mrs Bush has decided to take the step down to a supporting role. Karen has made a great start to her time at Muskham and will be assisting with the interviews for a new kitchen lead early in March. Our Year 5 and 6 catch-up swimming pupils had their final session at The Grove on Tuesday, with many excellent achievements to celebrate. I'm looking forward to giving out certificates in Monday's achievement assembly. Unfortunately, despite our three shortlisted nominations in the Newark Twentyman Awards, we didn't bring home any trophies this year. Well done to Eloise, Elisha and Miss Lavignasse for being in the top five in their categories! The children enjoyed their assembly delivered by the Music for Schools Foundation this week. It was good to see so many families present for the information and taster session too - some budding musical sounds were floating through school as an unexpected soundtrack to the end of our school week! Finally, it was a pleasure to welcome Mrs Heathershaw from Tuxford Academy into school on Friday afternoon. Her visit to meet Class 6 means that their transition to secondary school has now officially started - it's all becoming real! I hope you all have a great weekend.
