School Development Plan 2026-2028

At Muskham Primary School, we are committed to providing an ambitious, inclusive and nurturing education where every child is known, valued and challenged to achieve their full potential. Guided by our motto,"Wisdom and Caring", our Development Plan for 2026-2028 sets out the key priorities that will help us continue to deliver excellent outcomes for all pupils while strengthening our role at the heart of the local community. 

Our Vision

We want every child to leave Muskham Primary School as a confident, resilient and successful learner who is fully prepared for the next stage of their education and future life. Through high-quality teaching, a broad and ambitious curriculum, strong pastoral care and meaningful partnerships with families, we aim to ensure every pupil flourishes academically, socially and emotionally. 

Our Key Priorities

Safeguarding and Wellbeing

The safety and wellbeing of our pupils remain our highest priority. We will continue to strengthen our safeguarding culture through regular staff training, robust monitoring systems and effective support for vulnerable pupils. We are also committed to ensuring that all children understand how to stay safe, both online and offline, and know where to go for help and support. Attendance will remain a key focus, helping every child to access the full benefits of school life. 

Reading, Vocabulary and Communication

Reading lies at the heart of our curriculum. Over the next two years, we will continue to develop a rich reading culture across the school, helping children become enthusiastic and confident readers. We will place a strong emphasis on vocabulary development and oracy, enabling pupils to communicate effectively, think critically and access learning across all subjects.

High-Quality Curriculum and Teaching

We will continue to develop a broad, ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum that builds pupils' knowledge and skills progressively. Through professional development, coaching and shared best practice, we aim to ensure that teaching remains consistently strong across the school and that every child experiences engaging and challenging learning. 

Inclusion for Every Child

Our school is proud to be inclusive. We will strengthen support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), disadvantaged pupils and those who may be vulnerable. Through high-quality adaptive teaching and carefully planned support, we will ensure that all children can fully access the curriculum, make strong progress and feel valued within our school community. 

Improving Achievement

We aim to build on our strong track record of academic success by further raising attainment and progress in reading, writing and mathematics. We will use assessment information carefully to identify and respond to pupils' needs, provide targeted support where necessary and ensure that higher-attaining pupils are appropriately challenged to reach their full potential. 

Personal Development and Community Engagement

Developing children's character, confidence and wellbeing is central to our vision. We will continue to provide a wide range of enrichment opportunities through sport, music, the arts and leadership roles. We are also strengthening links with parents, local organisations and community groups to create meaningful opportunities for pupils to contribute positively to the community and develop a sense of belonging and citizenship. 

Leadership and Governance

Strong leadership and effective governance are essential to our continued success. We will invest in leadership development, maintain rigorous self-evaluation processes and ensure governors continue to provide both support and challenge. This will help secure sustainable improvement and the highest standards throughout the school. 

Early Years Development

In our Early Years provision, we will continue to develop children's communication, language and early reading skills while fostering independence, curiosity and resilience. Plans include enhancing adult-child interactions, strengthening parental engagement and developing outdoor learning opportunities to support a smooth transition from Reception into Key Stage 1.
