Muskham School Choir

Welcome to Muskham School Choir's webpage.

The school choir is open to children in Key Stage 2, classes 4,5 and 6, and is run by Mrs Booth, Mrs Goodwin and Mrs Fryer. We are very lucky to have Mr Starr, our very talented pianist, which means we are able to tackle a wide variety of material. We don't audition for choir places and we try to take most of the children who want to join however, we do have to limit numbers.

In our Year 4, 5 and 6 singing lessons, we have been learning a song in Romanian. We are really proud of our efforts and hope you enjoy it too.

Dragostea Din Tei

What a busy half term we are having!

We have continued to learn some great Motown songs and also had a go at some chair drumming. Mrs Booth and Mrs Goodwin have been really challenging us with some tricky partner songs and rounds too. The song below is one of Mrs Booth's favourites. Have a listen and see what you think.

Rescue Me - Fontella Bass (1965)

What a fantastic performance at the Christmas Fayre; well done everyone. Have a very merry Christmas and we'll see you in the New Year.

What a wonderful evening we had at Pina's salon for her charity event. It seemed magical singing Christmas songs as darkness fell and the fairy light began to twinkle. Your singing was amazing and we all felt that Christmas had begun. We were very grateful to Pina for inviting us and also for the lovely cupcakes she gave us.blush

Mark De-Lisser Workshop at Kelham Hall.

On November 20th, Choir attended a vocal workshop with the professional coach, Mark De-Lisser. He has recently been seen on television, so it was a fantastic opportunity for us. The choir children were amazing and joined in enthusiastically. All the adults, who accompanied Choir, were impressed with both their behaviour and their amazing singing. We are very grateful to Nottinghamshire Music Hub for arranging this workshop, in such a stunning venue. Also, thanks to Mark and his team for a brilliant experience.

Welcome back Choir.

It's great to see our returning members and to welcome our new recruits. This half term, Mrs Booth and Mrs Goodwin will be joined by Mr Starr for our sessions. We have some great songs planned for the next few weeks. Here's one song we will be having a go at..........

Choir Showcase

The choir had a lovely evening showcasing some of their favourite Disney songs which they have been learning this term. It was wonderful to see the event attended by so many supporters. A special thank you to the Year 6 leavers who have been such great members of the choir this year – we wish you all the best. Keeeeep singing!

Choir Sing-Along - 29th April 2019.

What a brilliant turn out at our recent sing-along event!

It was great to see our parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and teachers all joining in. We even had a new band member too. Everybody went home with a smile on their face and we will definitely try to arrange something similar in the future.

Welcome back Choir. This half term we will be learning some Disney songs and trying a bit of chair drumming. Don't forget your chopsticks.

What a busy time for Choir!

We performed some great, seasonal songs during the Christmas event at Pina's salon in Muskham. This was followed by an appearance at the School Christmas Fayre. Unfortunately, due to staff illness, we had to cancel our planned performance at the Christingle service in Muskham church.

Thank you for all your hard work and enthusiasm. We hope you have a great Christmas and we'll see you in 2019.

Mrs Booth and Mrs Davies

Have a great holiday everyone.

Mrs Davies and Mrs Booth have been very impressed with the auditions for the performance. Well done everyone, we'll let you know who we have chosen as soon as possible. Please don't worry if it isn't you this time, you will have other chances.

Welcome back Choir. I hope you had a great Christmas and are ready for the year ahead.

Unfortunately, this half term is a little disrupted and we will only have sessions on 29th January and 5th February. However, below you'll see an idea of one song we might be learning surprise.

Apologies to those children on the waiting list for Choir. We are unable to fit any more members in at the moment but 'thank you' for your interest.

Too Good At Goodbyes

Christmas is always a busy time of year for Choir. We had 3 performances organised. The first was singing at the Christingle service at St Wilfrid's church, North Muskham. This was a popular day for other events but many thanks to the children who came to perform, well done.

Our next event was for Year 5 and 6 Choir members at 'Hair Design by Pina' in North Muskham. Pina hosts a Christmas opening for her customers and we entertained them with a selection of songs. It was a lovely event and the children were very grateful for the delicious cakes Pina made them as a 'thank you'.

Finally, the Choir children entertained everybody at the school Christmas Fair. Again, they did an amazing job and we were very proud of them.

All that is left to say is Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We will see you in 2018 and don't forget, we are moving to Monday evenings.
